Excluding File Types from the Backup


How to exclude certain file types from the backup

BackupAssist™ offers the ability to exclude certain file types from the backup.

For example, the folders you have selected for backup may contain inconsequential or extraneous data files that do not need to be backed up.

File type of this nature may include *.wav audio files, *.jpg images files or *.wma video files for example.

With BackupAssist™ you can exclude these file type from the backup rather than having to individually deselect each file from your selections. This means that only the most crucial data is backed up and you are not wasting unnecessary storage space or time backing up these files.

To exclude certain file type from your backup job, please carry out the following:

1. Access the 'Advanced Tab' in BackupAssist™

2. Click on 'Setup File Exclusions'

3. Add a new file type to exclude

4. Enter the file type to be excluded and where to apply the exclusion
